Youth Basketball Tournament - White Ribbon Campaign

  • Thursday, April 23, 2015
  • 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Holyoke High School

Dear Coach, Youth Worker and Mentor,

Adolescent dating violence is affecting the youth in our community.  According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 10 high school students has been purposefully hit, slapped or physically hurt by a boyfriend or girlfriend.  You may even know of 7th and 8th graders that are "dating" and may have little or no awareness of this issue.

Join us in a character building event for your team or join us to raise awareness and find resources for our youth.  Attached, please find the biography of Juan Ramos from A Call to Men who will be our featured speaker.  There will be an opportunity for youth and their family members to receive resources from the invited agencies present at the event.  State Representative Aaron Vega will also be present to administer the White Ribbon Campaign Pledge. The event is free to you, your teens and family members.  We need your help in getting 13-20 year old young adults to be part of this event.  We are providing transportation and welcome assistance.

Please feel free to contact me at (413) 538-9717 or Ed Caisse (413) 858-0225 for more information.

On behalf of all us at Womanshelter/Compañeras we look forward to seeing you April 23, 2015 at Holyoke High School.
