This Friday is "First Fridays" Youth Open Mic, from 7-9pm at the First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain (633 Centre St, by the post office). We will be featuring Armor Bearer, a dynamic Christian rapper, the Youth Choir of Myrtle Baptist Church of West Newton, spoken word by Carrington Moore, and many others!
We are also excited to be collaborating with youth leaders from the Center for Community Health and Health Equity at Brigham and Women's Hospital, who suggested that we theme our open mic around White Ribbon Day and the cause of ending violence against women (and men). We are asking all performers to speak creatively to this theme!
In addition to our featured performers, the mic will be OPEN for spoken word, music, comedy, rap, drama, poetry, etc.
Please spread the word! (Forward this email, invite friends on Facebook, bring a friend.) There will be people there of all ages but mostly youth and young adults, typically. We always welcome more performances, planned or not.
There will be really good free food from Acapulco Mexican Restaurant, Amir's Natural Foods, Fiore's Bakery, and hopefully also Ideal Pizza and Cafe.
Doors Open at 6:30 pm. Free admission, free food and drink.
People of all ages are invited to attend--suggested donation of $5-10 for those 25 and older.
