Event Description: “What do the 2020 elections mean for survivors of sexual assault, particularly those that are young and/or first-time voters?”

·   This event will feature a non-partisan, virtual speaker panel of state and national leaders who are well-informed in the intersection of survivorship identity and electoral politics.

·   JDI aims to create a space and dialogue for and with survivors to advance conversation around the upcoming elections and community change more broadly. Survivors have multiple truths that impact their identities and voting decisions and their choices around civic engagement.

Audience:   All are welcome!

• We especially invite first-time voters, community activists, survivors, students, and those just looking to engage in a discussion on this timely and critical issue.
• We also invite those who cannot, or will not, vote in the upcoming elections. We recognize that voting in the United States is not a universally accessible form of civic engagement (for example, because of someone’s citizenship status, age or various forms of voter suppression). In addition to voting and electoral politics, we'll also delve into the many different types of civic engagement for the 2020 elections.
